We believe awareness and education are powerful tools to prevent suicide. For this reason, Acadia Montana partnered with The Jason Foundation, Inc. to educate communities about the silent epidemic of youth suicide.
About The Jason Foundation
The Jason Foundation, Inc. (JFI) is a leader in raising awareness and preventing youth suicide. Established in 1997 after his son, Jason, committed suicide at age 16, Clark Flatt developed this non-profit organization to help community members recognize when an at-risk youth is contemplating suicide and provide help.
Statistics: Suicide in Montana
- Suicide is the second leading cause of death for middle and high school age youth (12 – 18).
- Suicide is the second leading cause of death for college age youth (18 – 22).
The Montana Youth Risk Behavioral Survey reported:
- Almost 1 out of 6 young people seriously considered suicide in the past twelve months
- Almost 1 out of 13 young people attempted suicide in the past twelve months

Acadia Montana, located in Butte, is the area’s local affiliate of JFI. Acadia Montana is pleased to provide resources, programs, and additional services that work to put an end to the tragic epidemic that is youth suicide.
